Pelargonium (EPs 7630)
Cochrane-supported South African geranium root extract for acute bronchitis, strongest RCT base of any herbal cough product.
Why
Pelargonium sidoides root (extract EPs 7630, sold as Umckaloabo) has the strongest RCT base of any herbal product for acute respiratory infections. The Cochrane review of 10 RCTs in adults and children found significant reductions in bronchitis symptom severity, faster return to work or school, and reduced antibiotic use versus placebo. Effect is modest but consistent and the safety profile is favourable in standard use.
How it works
