Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 24, 2026
Our commitment
Healicus is committed to making its educational natural-medicine service usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance as the standard referenced by the German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) and BITV 2.0.
Current status
Healicus is operated by a sole proprietor and currently qualifies as a Kleinstunternehmen(micro-enterprise under BFSG § 2 Nr. 18). As a micro-enterprise providing a consumer service we are presently exempt from mandatory BFSG conformance. We nonetheless build against WCAG 2.1 AA so that the service is accessible today and ready when the exemption ends.
A self-audit performed on 2026-04-24 found the site to be substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Known minor gaps are tracked in our internal accessibility audit and are not launch-blocking. The full audit summary lists focus-visibility on frosted-glass buttons, a small contrast shortfall on auxiliary stone-400 text, and an outstandingprefers-reduced-motionopt-out for decorative animations.
Features that support accessibility
- Semantic HTML with properly nested headings.
- All images have descriptive alternative text.
- All interactive icon-only buttons have accessible names.
- Forms have associated labels and clear error messaging.
- Full keyboard navigation — you can use the site without a pointing device.
- Content is responsive and resizes without loss of functionality up to 200%.
- Dialogs (cookie consent, confirmations, voice-AI disclosure) use standard ARIA roles and restore focus on dismiss.
- Dark mode reduces glare for low-vision and light-sensitive users.
Known limitations
- Focus indicators on some frosted-glass buttons are the default browser ring and may be low-contrast against certain background tints. A high-contrast focus ring is on our post-launch backlog.
- A small amount of auxiliary text (timestamps, captions) uses stone-400 at approximately 4.1:1 contrast against the light background — just below the 4.5:1 threshold. We will lift these to stone-500 in a future styling pass.
- The homepage uses decorative background animations. Implementing a
prefers-reduced-motionopt-out is planned. - Voice output currently uses a single synthetic voice via ElevenLabs. Native screen readers continue to work for all text content.
